Frequently Asked Questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The Real-ESRGAN model runs entirely in your browser (WebGPU when available, WebAssembly otherwise). Photos never leave your device.
How much can it enlarge?
1.5×, 2×, 3× or 4×. The model natively reconstructs detail at 4×; the smaller scales are derived from that for clean, sharp results.
Why is a very large image capped?
To stay within browser memory limits, output is capped at 8000 px on the long side; the tool automatically reduces the effective scale and tells you when that happens.
Which formats can I export?
PNG (lossless, default), JPG or WebP. A quality slider appears for JPG and WebP.
Is it really free?
Yes — free, no signup, no usage limit. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Does it work offline after the first use?
After the first run the ~5 MB model is cached by your browser, so later upscales work without re-downloading it.
