Frequently Asked Questions

Will my images leave my computer?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using a Web Worker. We don't upload your files, and there is no server-side copy.
What formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP as input. You can keep the original format or convert everything to WebP for the best savings.
Does compressing PNG actually shrink it?
Yes. PNGs are quantized to a smaller colour palette (still PNG), which typically reduces photos 60–90% with barely any visible difference. For maximum savings on photos, convert to WebP.
Will EXIF and GPS be stripped?
Yes by default. The 'Strip metadata (EXIF)' toggle is on, which removes camera info and GPS coordinates. Turn it off to keep them.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The page is static; the only thing it does is run image encoding on your device. Your bytes never leave the machine.
