Frequently Asked Questions
Why convert to WebP?
WebP typically gives 25–50% smaller files than JPG at similar visual quality, with full transparency support. All modern browsers display it.
Is PNG → JPG lossy?
Yes — JPG is a lossy format, so the converted file is not pixel-identical to the original. Use the quality slider to balance size and fidelity, or convert to WebP instead.
What about transparency?
PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPG does not — transparent pixels become solid white (or whatever the source's background is).
Will EXIF and GPS be stripped?
Yes by default. The 'Strip metadata (EXIF)' toggle is on; turn it off if you want to keep camera info and GPS.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The page is static; encoding happens entirely on your device. Your bytes never leave the machine.
